i am it.

Paul Martin accused the Conservatives of 'reneging" on international agreements and abandoning an independent foreign policy at an early morning meeting with young international volunteers.

"Most Canadians and indeed the vast majority of Quebeckers support the Kyoto agreement to fight climate change and Canada pledged that it would support the accord," the Liberal Leader told the small but enthusiastic crowd.

"Stephen Harper would renege on that commitment. He would break our word to the world on an international treaty."

In addition, said Mr. Martin, most Canadians do not want Canada to participate in the American ballistic missile defence system.

"My government said no to it but Stephen Harper would open the door to Canada joining ballistic missile defence."

Mr. Harper has said that, if he came to the conclusion that joining the missile defence system was in Canada's best interests, he would put the matter to a free vote of Parliament.

On Kyoto, he has said he believes it will be impossible to meet the greenhouse-gas reduction targets specified in the international accord. Although he has not specifically said he would pull out of the agreement, he has laid out his own plan for reducing the gases and would set what he believes are more realistic targets.

That is a mistake, said Mr. Martin.

"No Shit", said awesome guy, Travis Murray. "If we let some stupid arse like Harper into power, chances are we will commit to the American Imperialist Empire and see the like of terrorist attacks just as they have in New York and in London. Do the smart thing and finally vote for the New Democrats."

Ughh.. Here are some silly Quizes.

I love office space. :) And perhaps it's a bit silly, but if it's Paul Martin who's pointing out the faults of the conservatives, especially Stephen Harpen, and bringing up constructive alternatives and valuable policies, shouldn't you consider voting Liberal? ;)

no, no you shouldn't. Martin and Harper constantly point out each others faults while Layton promotes his Positive aspects. I dont want a bitch for a prime minister.

I'm pretty sure Travis knows who Kim Campbell is. :P That being said, Layton is no better than the other two. He flashes out buzzwords to appear outside of the mud slinging (via non-sequitors) and then pokes at both Martin and Harper. He has the same old style politics that he wishes Canada to edge away from. He enjoys all the benefits of private health care and he just looks untrustworthy and condescending. I don't like Jack Layton and I wouldn't trust his party with any economic policy. Good ideas for social programs, but that doesn't balance the scales. Mr. Martin and his Liberals all the way. :)

Of course I know who Kim Campbell is, but finally a good debate. But no Dave, you can't fool me with your debating union ways. You only think he looks untrustworthy because he looks like Lenin, and he doesn't enjoy the benefits of private health care, this is Canada Dave, we have public health care. Martin's ideals are in the wrong place, as a young adult i care about the environment and how it will be in the future. Martin backed up Natural Resources Minister John Efford, who said Canada’s polluters couldn’t meet Kyoto’s targets by 2012, and suggested they have until 2017 instead. This is crap. Not to mention that the Liberals’ broke their 1993 promise to cut pollution by 2005. In the New Democrat's Kyoto plan it clearly outlines how Canada can meet its Kyoto targets in the treaty’s timelines. It would create 800,000 person years of work, and is achievable within a balanced budget.
I am going to vote NDP because i care about the environment. NDP all the way :) :P

Leave the DU outta this. :p Although, I'm glad to see some intelligent discussion sparked. We should do a political blog war. :) OK, while I'm all for supporting the major issue that's buggin' me, when voting I feel it necessary to consider a whole platform first. Granted, the NDP have some good ideas. I think I heard Bobby Hull say something along those lines once. What bothers me is the way people allow themselves to let the wool be pulled over their eyes when it comes to social reform parties. They're not the fluffy lovey dovey Lenin's... their mustaches are of a different cut. Jack Layton AND Paul Martin are on record for having used private clinics for surgery... Jack Layton says, "Oops, I didn't know that. Besides, it was a long time ago... 1993" (Yes, that's a direct quote :p ) Yeah... cuz he was only a child back then so I can understand his ignorance? At least Martin owns up to his decisions and doesn't fake it. Furthermore, Martin wasn't the one maintaining status quo as PM in 1993; that was Mr. Jean Poutine. I think Martin not only provides a balanced budget, but also a balanced platform, allowing for realistic acheivement of Kyoto, a fair economic policy and appropriate social reforms for child care and criminal justice. NDP are just plain wishy-washy on their stances and they don't even offer a comforting facade in compensation. I vote Liberal because I care for Canada. :)

You see I think you and other people a little more my senior, might have the NDP confused with another Canadian political party that may have been around back, in the day. The NDP of 2006 are a serious Party with a good economic platform to coincide with their social programs. They are not "wishy-washy" in any stance of their platform. Perhaps you should look into some of their stances before you make your choice, or these claims. I can summarize a few aspects of it for you here, but they really do have a lot of information on their website. The NDP would cut wasteful and inefficient spending on tax giveaways to large corporations, where those funds are given away without requiring that a single job be created, a single person trained, or a single dollar invested. Jack Layton and the NDP will not permit the dismantling of Canada’s single-payer Medicare system. He will oppose the privatization of Canada’s health system. Jack Layton and the NDP will work in the next Parliament to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, help Canadians conserve energy, and promote the use of alternative, sustainable, clean sources of energy by implementing the NDP Kyoto Plan. We will meet Canada’s international obligations. In the process, these initiatives will create thousands of good jobs.

Perhaps the Red wool has been pulled over your eyes, here is a short summary of Mr. Martin's Last term: Sponsorship scandal, Purchase of new Challenger jets for the Prime Minister and cabinet but canceling the Sea King replacement, Gun Registry Problems, GST Flip Flop, Airbus Investigation, Irving fishing lodge stays/travel on Irving jets for cabinet ministers, Martin traveling on private corporate jets as Finance Minister, as well as many questionable appointments.

I do agree with you on the fact that the NDP don't offer this "Comforting Facade" that you prefer, but for me, i would rather have an honest interpretation. Personally, I think that politics should be about people, not well-connected friends and lobbyists, that is why I vote NDP. :)
