Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous barb on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.

"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.

I have really been a NIN mood lately, it seems to come in spurts, I really, really like the left side of the fragile. In a "if i was on a desert island" sort of way. The rest is sort of just what i have been listening too. It is no 400+ CYHSY, but i think it is very representitive of my taste.

Race played a role in arrest - protester

A protestor arrested Saturday in the city's downtown says he was targeted by Fredericton police because of his race.

Asaf Rashid was one of four people taken into custody and ticketed after police decided to crack down on a group of 30 marchers who had made their way from Queens Square to City Hall.

He said the fact he is of Pakistani descent played a role in his arrest.

"I was the only one handcuffed; I was the only one thrown to the ground and the first to be arrested," Rashid said Monday.

"The other three are not people of colour and they weren't treated the same way I was. When I was in the police station, I was asked where I was from. I was put off by that."

Rashid, 30, said he was asked by police if he was a Canadian citizen, even though that was apparent on identification he had with him.

The Fredericton Police Force said it is reviewing an incident.

Const. Bobbi Simmons rejected the idea that the arrest was racially
motivated.

"As a police force, we respect the cultural diversity of the City of Fredericton. In fact, we embrace it," Simmons said.

"We try as a police force to reflect within our own membership the ethnicity that thrives in Fredericton."

Simmons declined to comment on the specifics of the case other than to confirm that police became aware of the demonstration at about 2:25 p.m. on Saturday.

Rashid said the protest was peaceful one - designed to inform people on the problems facing immigrants and refugees in Canada.

The march started at Queens Square park and moved along Queen Street toward City Hall beneath the banner of "Solidarity Across Borders," where the group delivered the message "No one is Illegal."

Other protests took place simultaneously in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.

"On the left side of my ribs, it feels like I have been struck there. I don't exactly remember what happened; I just remember having my arm twisted behind my back and being forced to the ground," Rashid said.

"I am not sure if it is when I hit the ground that my ribs got sore ... Overall, I would say I do have an injury resulting from this."

Rashid said he is still in shock because all he and the others were doing were walking and handing out pamphlets.

Rashid said when they arrived at City Hall, the police, who had been watching them on Queen Street, came and asked them to leave.

"We were on our way out anyway," said Rashid.

"I asked him (the arresting officer) for his name and badge number, and when I asked him questions with a tape recorder playing, he didn't seem to be too impressed. He grabbed my arm and that is when the whole thing happened."

Rashid admitted he may have been pointed in his questions to the officer but didn't think it would provoke such a reaction.

He claimed the arresting officer told him "the next time I tell you to leave, you had better (expletive deleted) leave."

Rashid said he will be complaining to police and insisting that management at the not put up with that type of behaviour from one of its officers.

Asaf's father, Muhammad Rashid, a professor at the University of New Brunswick, was still at Queens Square when he heard what was going on.

Muhammad Rashid said he has been in Canada for 35 years and had never seen anything like what happened to his son.

"Even if I wasn't his father, I would be shocked by what they did," he said.

After he arrived, he said, he was told to leave or he would be arrested too.

"I think police are supposed to protect people and respect their rights," he said. "These people were peaceful and they were students saying things about respect for human beings, poverty and peace and this the treatment they get."

Muhammad Rashid said there is no doubt the incident was racially motivated.

Madhu Verma, the vice-president of the National Indo-Canadian Council, was also marching with the group Saturday. She said she tried to intervene when Rashid was taken to the ground but was unable to make a difference.

"I said, 'Look, you cannot do that,' " she said.

" 'You cannot use extra force, please stop it.' I said that five times."

She said the Fredericton Police Force needs sensitivity training. She said she approached the force in the past but was told they didn't need it.

"We think it is very, very important that they accept they have a problem and they need the training," she said. "Unless they accept it, they are not going to do it."

In the meantime, Chris Erb, the second person arrested by police on Saturday, said he has launched a private prosecution against one of the officers involved.

An administrative review is also being done on the ticket, Erb said.

"It certainly was an overreaction and I think part of it was motivated by race," Erb said.

Ok, so last night Lisa, Neil and I were standing on their porch at around 4 am when we see a rather old, very drunk guy walking up Regent St. He has already removed his shirt and had slung it over his shoulder as he must have been thinking it was a particularly warm evening. He then realized that he needed to relieve himself immediately so he directs his path towards the telephone pole directly across the street from where we were standing, bounces his gut off of it, nearly falls over and, drops his trousers. After finishing peeing all over his shirt that is now on the ground he attempts to leave, unfortunately those pesky pants are still around his ankles. “Screw this” the drunkard thinks, and he continues to kick off his pants on the side of Regent. He manages to remove them by entering someone’s patio and leaning on their railing. He stands there in all his nudeness for some time as we ponder calling someone or going to see if he is ok. We see him back flip over the railing and make a very loud thud as his naked body hits the ground. By now it is obvious that this guy needs some help so with the aid of some Asian guy who lives in the next house shining a flashlight and Lisa giving excellent instructions on how to properly put the correct leg in your pants and arms in your shirt he manages to make it three houses further up the street before being picked up by the cops.

28 tax reductions . . . and one hike

1. GST reduced by one percentage point to 6 per cent on July 1.

2. New Canada Employment Credit of $500, rising to $1,000 next year, for work-related expenses such as uniforms and home computers.

3. Income Tax Act to be amended so new $100-a-month child-care payment can be claimed by the lower-income spouse.

4. Family fishing boats become eligible for a $500,000 lifetime capital-gains tax exemption.

5. Excise duties repealed on the first 500,000 litres of wine made from Canadian-grown crops and reduced on beer from small and medium-sized breweries.

6. Excise tax repealed on jewellery made in or imported into Canada, clocks and articles made with semi-precious stones.

7. A $500 tax credit for parents whose children enroll in organized physical activity.

8. Tax credit on the purchase of monthly transit passes starting in July, meaning about $150 a year in tax relief for frequent transit users.

9. Exemption from capital-gains tax on donations of publicly listed securities to public charities.

10. Increases to $2,000 from $1,000 in the maximum amount of pension income that can be used to calculate the pension-income credit.

11. Increases the maximum annual Child Disability Benefit to $2,300 from $2,044 effective July 1 and coverage extended by reducing the rates at which the benefit is cut as family income rises.

12. Reintroduces the mineral- exploration tax credit to solidify recent exploration gains.

13. Raises the maximum amount of the refundable medical-expense supplement to $1,000 from $767 for the 2006 tax year.

14. Apprenticeship job-creation tax credits for employers, who will get $2,000 per apprentice.

15. A $1,000 apprenticeship grant for apprentices who take part in approved programs.

16. Tools deduction allowing tradespeople to deduct up to $500 for the cost of tools exceeding $1,000.

17. Textbook tax credit, worth about $80, for postsecondary students.

18. Removes the $3,000 limit on the tax-exempt status on bursaries, scholarships and fellowships so that all such income is tax free.

19. Reduces the parental contribution on Canada Student Loans so that about 30,000 more students with family incomes between $65,000 and $140,000 are eligible.

20. Donations of ecologically sensitive land under the Ecogift program will be exempt from capital-gains tax.

21. Reduction in the effective tax rate on dividends, matching a promise the Liberal government had made in an attempt to level the playing field between income trusts and other corporations.

22. Lowering of the general corporate income-tax rate to 19 per cent from 21 per cent by 2010.

23. Increases the amount of small-business income eligible for a 12-per-cent tax rate to $400,000 from $300,000, as of Jan. 1, 2007. The rate falls to 11.5 per cent in 2008 and to 11 per cent in 2009.

24. Eliminates the corporate surtax for all corporations as of Jan. 1, 2008. The surtax had previously been eliminated only for small and medium-sized companies.

25. Accelerates the capital cost allowance for forestry bioenergy.

26. The federal capital tax, which under the Liberals was to have been eliminated in 2008, will disappear this year at a cost of $795-million.

27. Eliminates so-called double taxation of dividends from large corporations at a cost of $375-million this year and $310-million next year.

28.Gradually raises the basic personal amount exempt from income tax to $10,000 by 2009.

ONE HIKE

1. Reduces the lowest personal income-tax rate to 15.5 per cent July 1. However, that is half a percentage point more than the rate currently in effect.

Fair Trade?

I have said for a while that I would post something on my views on fair trade as many have inquired as to why I am not pro fair trade.

Basically it comes down to the fact that a lot of large companies have always paid farmers well for high quality products. I am going to stick to the topic of coffee since it is the subject I know the most about.

Starbucks is a company that has been hated by lefties since I can remember it being around. I have heard many of them claiming that the beans are practically stolen from starving farmers in Latin America. This is preposterous. Starbucks is a worldwide coffee company that serves “A” grade Arabica beans. They have ridiculously high standards on their quality of their product and they pay ridiculously high prices for their beans. For someone like me who would gladly pay a little more knowing that hard work was put into making these beans the best they could be, this little cost is not a big deal. Starbucks pays their farmers equally or more than $1.26 per pound fair trade standard. They don’t pay to have the coffee fair trade certified because that would take money out of the farmer’s pockets.

Do you really think the price of fair trade products isn’t too high, and do you think that the entire extra amount you pay at the till goes to the farmers? The math just doesn’t add up for me. I believe the supermarkets are not being sufficiently open about their pricing of Fair trade products. I would like to see more of the premium going back to the Farmers if they are going to claim to be “Fair”

The basic argument for only buying fair trade coffee is that the other farmers don’t get paid enough. Does no one else see a flaw in this logic? Thinking that the “consumer power” of everyone buying fair trade will change the world is just ridiculous. Fair Trade companies will satisfy the market for people who can afford to pay extortionate prices for not-especially-wonderful coffee. The rest of us will continue drinking good coffee and nothing will change.

Fair trade is becoming so mainstream now; it is frustrating that no one is considering it seriously. On any given day at work I have about a dozen people ask for a “Free Trade” coffee. This is hilarious, they have all heard that free trade is good and/or fair trade is good, but the truth is they are non-interchangeable.

Free trade allows all farmers to sell in any market they choose at any price they choose. Fair trade is rigging the market in favour of friends and denying others the right to do business on equal terms. In any normal sense, it is unfair. If you believe is free trade you must also believe in an equal playing field.

Yesterday in Paris more than 200 000 people went out into the streets to protest a new youth labour law being passed. Set to take effect next month, it would let companies fire employees younger than 26 without reason in the first two years on the job. This is really the most ridiculous serious piece of legislation I have ever heard of.

Even with the huge marches under way Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin parliament that he was open to talks on employment and possible changes to the law but did not say that he would withdraw it. Mr. Villepin says the greater flexibility will encourage companies to hire young workers, who face a 22 per cent unemployment rate in France.

Can you imagine if Harper ever tried to pass some kind of crap like that here?

So i just got back from the Akron/Family show in Saint John. These guys are really good and it was kinda depressing that only about thirty people were there. Even though the guys had a really small crowd, they played a cool set and were really cool to talk to. Their music is pretty awesome, as they have many, many things on stage to play music with. The usual guitars, bass, drums, and keyboard accompanied by bells, whistles, stuffed birds, a twoonie, a wooden frog, a screwdriver and many other things to hit on blow into. Oh yeah he also played part of a song with his cell phone. Check out my other blog sometime soon for a ~~full~~ better review of the show.

Don't be Jerks.
Yes, i really do know how big our chocolate chip cookies are i see them all the time. You are not impressing me by saying "Whoa, those are huge cookies" i seriously hear this at least 5 times a shift. I think they actually used to be bigger, but we made them smaller so you would shut up.
I really, really don't care about the pop shoppe. I don't care if seeing the bottles brings back memories of your childhood. i hear this from any middle aged person from new brunswick that comes in our store and sees them(sometimes i want to hide them).
No, we dont have any decaf made. There is none on the signage. If you want some i have to make it for you, but it will take at least six minutes and if you are not pregnant i will give you dirty looks and think you are a wussy.
Don't walk behind the cash area, that space is for us only, smug customers.
Also, don't leave crap all over the tables. There are garbage cans in the store, just open your damn eyes. I don't go to your work and throw garbage all over your desk(yet).

So I just got back from seeing V for Vendetta. It may just be the buzz of seeing a fresh new movie but I really enjoyed it. It was directed by the Wachoski brothers (the Matrix films). It currently has 74% on Rottentomatoes, and I would say that is a pretty good rating. Right now, I would give it higher, but I know that is only because of the buzz again.

So basically there are two main characters. V is the creepy guy with the mask. He is well read, flamboyant, intellectual, a man dedicated to freeing his fellow citizens from those who have terrorized them into compliance. He is also bitter, revenge-seeking, lonely and violent, driven by a personal vendetta. He saves Evey, played by the incredibly hot Natalie Portman. Evey uncovers V’s past and becomes his unlikely ally in his quest for revolution!

V is played by Hugo Weaving. He is the guy who played Agent Smith in the Matrix Trilogy and Elrond in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Good movie, actually worth paying the money, which is saying a lot.

Hello world, it has been a long time since I have posted. I was trying to not ignore this blog, but I really do find myself spending a lot of time writing for my other one. It has been a cold week out there, just as I was getting tired of saying how nice it was. What was I thinking? My good friend Jodi left for Los Angeles yesterday; just in time for the Oscars (that is not why she is there though). She had better have some frigging sweet celebrity sighting stories when she gets back.

Today was a day for new things, Alyssa started her new job at Envy and Danielle started her new job at Chez Cora. We received a new pop cooler at work today. This is very exciting; did I mention the old one was crap? Well it is.

There is a new episode of Lost on tonight for those of you who are interested, I can’t wait. I think it is about Claire. But I would really like to what will happen now that the timer has ran out.

Akron/Family is playing in Saint John in late March, hopefully I will be able to go, it is not too often a band like them come this close to Fredericton. I think a lot of people will be there, or at least I hope.

I have tomorrow off and it is payday. I am so glad; it has been a long stretch of workdays and days without money. Plus this month has three paychecks so I can spend a little without feeling so guilty.

Anyways, I will try not to be as sloppy with the posts. I’ll talk to you soon.

well, this has been a crazy week. Shannon is in Hali having an interview, Sarah got in a crazy car accident, Pat had a show, Jodi has been in Toronto all week, Ali broke her ass, Daves thesis is STILL not done, Julie started teaching two physics classes at FHS, J5 and other Monctonites lost their power.. and me... yeah, zilch. I got these really cool granola bars. Seriously, that's all i'm posting about. They have apple and cinnamon, yogurt on the bottom and they have 6 grams of soy protein. Wahoo.

Pheasant wrapped in Bacon with Green Peppercorn Sauce

4 Pheasant Breasts cut in half
Bacon enough to wrap pheasant breasts
2C red wine (Merlot or Cabernet)
1 Onion chopped
3 cloves of garlic chopped fine
1t of Tarragon
1-3T of green peppercorns (to taste)
2C heavy whipping cream

Cut the breasts in half and wrap with the bacon. Put in a cooking dish and place under the broiler till browned, turning once. Remove from broiler and set the breasts on paper towels to degrease. Remove excess greas from pan. Deglaze the pan with the wine and pour that into a pot to make sauce. Add onion, garlic, tarragon, and peppercorns. Bring to slow boil. Reduce the mixture by half. Return the breasts back to the cooking dish. After the mixture is reduced add the cream. Stir well and pour that over the breasts. Return the pheasant to the oven and slow cook at 250F-300F for about an hour or 2. Serve over a rice pilaf.

Adjustments of more cream and wine may be added to increase the amount of sauce when preparing. Also, the green peppercorns may be left whole or crushed. If you crush them it tends to be a bit more peppery.

This is definatly the mose awesome thing i have ever found for a recipe. You have Pheasant wrapped in bacon in a sauce made with red wine... *drools*

So, there is now one week until v-day and I was thinking, how else could I possibly repulse any potential valentines... I know! Talk about my lack of future!
I have been pondering this dilemma even more the past few days. Basically, everyone and their mother know I have ambitions to be a teacher. This is what I have wanted to do since about grade 10. But now five years after i have graduated, I am considerably closer to that goal, but I am not sure if that is the direction I want to go... Really, I’m just not sure what I want to do. Peter Gibbons (A la Office Space) said that whatever you would do with your life if you won the lottery, that is what you should do with your career. I would not do "nothing" as he chose; I would really like to open a cafe. It is a perfect job for me, coffee is something I am passionate about and I would be around people all the time, which I would love. Does this mean that is what I should do? It really doesn’t seem like much of an aspiration compared to most peoples, and the pay would definitely be not very good. And there is that whole lump of money I have already invested in my university...

well.. today was weird. I was very grumpy, i thing i may have been suffering from irritable travis syndrome. Ah well i am better now that my rent is payed and i am off work. Here are some random things that have been going through my head all day.
-A lot of people grow pot, why does no one grow grow coffee beans? I wonder if Burton could hook me up. I would really like to try.
-I really like chocolate milk.

Hello, feels like time for a post, but i mostly got a lot off my chest last post so i think it is time for some senseless stuff.
I watched robocop tonight. I must say the guy who plays red foreman is awesome. Also There is this bad guy who really looks like flea from RHCP, does anyone know who it is? It is the guy who drives into the toxic waste and then instantly becomes a mutant with his skin falling off, until he gets hit by a car, and instantly becomes a lyquid. You know, that guy.
I am happy that tomorrow(today) is monday. It is pretty much my only day to sleep in.

I havn't posted in a while so i need to burn off some steam. So here are some thing that i have hated lately:

1. People that say cheers. You know what if you are not British don't say this, it doesn't sound right and you look like a tool. Brits can say this and it is cool, it is there thing that they say, like how we say eh and aboot, but you, you are not cool, you are pretentious.
2. People that say pretentious. This word is WAY over used. Anytime anyone doesn't like something or doesn't understand something, it is pretentious. Gimme a break, Stop saying this you freaking idiots. Just because you come into my cafe and order a coffee and have read one douglas coupland or kurt vonnegut book, you are not the king of all things pretentious, so put your stupid tweed jacket back on and go smoke a bowl.
3. People that order "regular" coffees. Listen up jackass, if i ask you what kind of coffee you want don't say regular. If we had a regular, i wouldn't ask you. just look at the danm signage and pick one. If it sound latino or has the word breakfast or morning in it, that is a mild coffee(for wussies). If it specifies the roast or sounds asia-pacific it is bold. And dont complain about the price, real arabica coffee costs more, if you want gross dollar store coffee go to tim hortons.
4. People with MySpaces. What the hell? Blogs are not new. As most people who visit here know, because the also use blogspot, blogspot rules. Myspace has barely any customization and is full of crappy adds that Micro$oft get paid for. What does MySpace have? i cant figure it out.. Pictures? I can do that here..

alrighy then,

i dont have much time for a real post but here is what has been going on. Of course Harper won, but we all knew that that was coming, the real surprise was how quickly Martin resigned as leader of the liberal party. This leaves the liberals with some interesting options, the post will probably go to Frank McKenna. He would be my personal choice for a leader as he has that connection with NB and he actually is a good leader. In 1985 he was the first in any jurisdiction in Canadian history to sweep all the seats in the province. If anyone would swing my vote Liberal it would be him. Of course there are other choices like Belinda Stronach, John Manley, Brian Tobin, Martin Cauchon and too many more to name...

Yeah, sorry everyone for not being around much, i'm not really that busy, it just feels that way. Sarah your blog looks great. I know how you feel with the "trying to code your own site thing" it took me forever to get mine like this and i have changed it like 5 times. I'll add you to my links too, but im outta time , off to work.

Very Important Topic

Ok, so there has been a very important debate going on between me and some others, you may have heard about it recently... Sometimes two mortal foes are pitted againt each other in a fictious world and you need to know who the winner would be. This Scenario: Hippo Vs. Bald Eagle.

This is a very tough one... Of course the hippo would have the upper edge in a striaght-up battle of strength (like an arm-wrestle), but ealge can fly, are fast and are just plain freaky. Not too count out the hippo's freakyness, those things are huge and apparently they kill tons off people a year. Eagles? i don't hear about to many eagle maulings... maybe that is because they only hunt hippos... Eagles certainly have more style points, as hippos run and splash, the eagles soar and glide. Possibly i could see the Eagle going for the Hippo's eyes right away(i heard that they do this), the problem with that is that the eagle would have to get in close without getting eaten. I think that the only real tactic for the hippo would be to get the eagle in your mouth. This is key, once he is in your mouth, you can eat him.
All in all i would say this is a tough debate, perhaps even tougher that wolf vs beaver.

The Conservative Party's lead in the polls has narrowed to nine percentage points as voters in Ontario and Quebec have second thoughts about a Stephen Harper government.

The latest poll for The Globe and Mail and CTV by the Strategic Counsel shows national support for the Conservatives has dropped to 37 per cent from 41 per cent, while support for the Liberals has risen to 28 per cent from 25 per cent. Backing for the New Democratic Party dipped one percentage point to 16 per cent.

The race has tightened in the face of a Liberal advertising attack on Mr. Harper and an anti-Tory offensive in Quebec by the Bloc Québécois and Liberals, which have warned of the front-running party's social-conservative leanings, said Allan Gregg, chairman of the Strategic Counsel.

so, what have you been up to?
Well, kingswood with the Soc was a great time Saturday. I bowled a crappy 75, but in my defence, i havn't bowled in mike 3 years. We then progressed to play lazer tag, in which we lost, after 10 minutes of running around like crazy. We then took a break and decided to play again (dragan already payed for it). Shannon and i were far to tired to run around again so we made an impromptu plan of attack. Stand in the corner and shoot people. In fact, I was standing in the corner and Shannon was hiding in a kind of cubby space where she could shoot people that tried to come and shoot me, and she could shoot other people on the other side as well. The point is lazer tag strategy is awesome and i think i would rock as infantry if i wasn't so amazingly opposed.

Another funny story. I went with Alyssa today as she needed to apply for jobs. We decided that it would be a good idea to apply at the CIBC call centre in kings place, so we went to the elevators and read the sign of where it was. It said that it was on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors but the reception was on the third, so she took the elevator up to the third floor. When she got to the third floor there were people walking through revolving doors so she followd someone through it. It stopped halfway through it. It turns out you needed to have a pass card for the doors to turn completly around, and soon she heard voices saying "Security breach, security breach!". They had to back up the doors to let her out and then she had to talk to the receptionist through a little phone on the wall. Boy i'm glad that wasn't me.

Dave and i had a pretty awesome political blog war going on a few comment sessions back. I'm sure you all know my views by now so i will try to hold off on that subject at least for a few posts.

Paul Martin accused the Conservatives of 'reneging" on international agreements and abandoning an independent foreign policy at an early morning meeting with young international volunteers.

"Most Canadians and indeed the vast majority of Quebeckers support the Kyoto agreement to fight climate change and Canada pledged that it would support the accord," the Liberal Leader told the small but enthusiastic crowd.

"Stephen Harper would renege on that commitment. He would break our word to the world on an international treaty."

In addition, said Mr. Martin, most Canadians do not want Canada to participate in the American ballistic missile defence system.

"My government said no to it but Stephen Harper would open the door to Canada joining ballistic missile defence."

Mr. Harper has said that, if he came to the conclusion that joining the missile defence system was in Canada's best interests, he would put the matter to a free vote of Parliament.

On Kyoto, he has said he believes it will be impossible to meet the greenhouse-gas reduction targets specified in the international accord. Although he has not specifically said he would pull out of the agreement, he has laid out his own plan for reducing the gases and would set what he believes are more realistic targets.

That is a mistake, said Mr. Martin.

Hello everyone, I guess it has been around two days since I posted last. I now have TWO days off and I am very excited, my plans, do nothing, as much as possible. I mean obviously I will do something, but I am really going to focus on the nothing.

So, that election is coming up fast and the party bashing is getting pretty intense. Last night I was at a friend’s house that has TV and we saw a commercial made by the liberals, which basically said that Stephen Harper was the new poster boy for George Bush and if you vote conservative, you love George Bush. Umm... I really don’t like Harper or these new conservatives, but even I think this is a little ridiculous. I bet George Bush doesn't even remember who Stephen Harper is.

So we watched the new lost last night and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with the viewing of the monster. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje)’s story was also really cool, we were all very surprised. I mean, you know the guy is huge, but you never really think… hmm… he is probably a Nigerian mob drug dealer, turned priest when his brother gets abducted by your friends and crashes a plane into this crazy island. One major question I have with this plot twist, how does a small plane leaving from Nigeria, crash on a small island in the middle of the pacific?

So I almost got to buy an electric guitar that is being stored at Patrick, Liz and Jodi’s. I got kind of excited but it turned out to be a leftie. How very disappointing. But on the positive side I thought of a cool band name “With the Band”. Then you could say “Hey, we’re with the band!” and everyone would be, like, “Huh?” It would be sweet.

so, how is everyone?
I have today off and it is great. i went out for coffee and Jodi and i rejoined the gym. I am quite excited about it, last month i went there i really noticed a large difference. Plus it is something to do in my spare time.
So i got this new Cd, "John Mayer Trio". I know what your thinking.. john mayer.. he's a wus. Well as it turns out he is in fact some kind of reincarnation of stevie ray. Seriously good blues album. He does a cover of "i got a woman" by Ray Charles. This is the song that Kanye samples for golddigger, it is pretty fun.
What a crappy snowy day. I walked up to the university today to withdrawl(for those of you who haven't heard) and i tried to sell some books, but the bookstore didn't seem to want any. That's how i feel everyday.

well, i havnt posted a real post in a while.. i guess i havnt had too much to talk about. I have today off and it is GREAT! so far i have done ... nothing. Tonight at the capital it will be the second "dance party" with the Trick playing with A/V and Gary Flanagan. They were awesome last time, as i know they will be tonight. Anyone who likes to dance dance should come on over and give me a high five.
Luckily, tomorrow i open the store at 730, so will be in great shape.

I purchased the new White Stripes EP "Walking with a Ghost". It is pretty awesome. Not only the Tegan and Sara Cover, but also the live tracks that are all mish mashed. I was satisfied.

STUFF OF THE YEAR!!!!

ok, lets get started, i dwindled it down to 10 stuffs of the year, here are the Catagorys and their winners:

Food of the Year:

Spicy Perogie Pizza from Boston Pizza, with sour cream, mozza, smokey bacon and spicy cactus cut potatoes. Finished with cheddar, green onion and a dollop of sour cream. hell yes. Finish it off with a nice chocolate eruption cheeesecake and call it a Sunday night.

Wine of the Year:

Yellow Tail Shiraz 2004. A vibrant, deep purple colour leads to a nose of lifted berry aromas with spicy notes. The full-bodied palate shows generous ripe fruit characters with underlying earthy tones and lingering sweet berry flavours. A touch of vanillin oak adds balance and softness to the long, enjoyable finish. I didn't write this i stole it from their website. It translate to: Freaking good wine.

Book of the Year:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I dont really think that anyone will be surprised that i chose this book. It may not have been the "Best" Book of the year but it was at least by far the most anticipated. I read through it i the first 24 hours i got it and then read it again in the next 4 days. lets just say ... its an epidemic. This book keeps the epidemic rolling in this, the second last book in the series, with a few more twists and turns (you know that was Aberforth right?) and we are all anxious to read the last instalment, whenever that is.

Magazine of the Year:

Paste. This is the magazine about music "I" care about. That is all i am going to say. Here.

TV Comedy of the Year:

The Office (US). Oh man these people crack me up! Holy Crap! Who would have thought that a bunch of people working for a paper company could have so much cool stuff going on. Everyone is hilarious, I especially like the conflict between Jim and Dwight, the occasional aquardness between Jim and Pam, and evin's... I just think Kevin is Funny. This is not even mentioning that there boss is Steve Carell and he throws in these totally hysterically aquard moments. Awesome.

TV Drama of the Year:

Lost. No doubt, well maybe for Prison Break... Nah, Lost totally rocked it so far this season. adding a couple of new interesting characters like Mr. Eko, and Libby. I definatly want to see some kind of kinship or conflict between Eko and Locke. This show has just had solid writing since the start of the show, lets hope they can keep it up and they dont totally mess it up in the end.

Ryan Adams CD of the Year:

29. First of let me say that i did enjoy all three of his albums this year so everything i am about to say is relative to each of the other albums.Of his three album this year 29 stands out for me as a clear winner. His first cd this year "Cold Roses" was too full of filler and songs that seemed to make the cd drag on. Rather than a filler full double cd this could have been a great single cd release. his second "Jacksonville City Nights" was alright in the fillerness department, but still has one thing i dont really enjoy, The Cardinals. His band is just too twangy for me, i really dont like country slide guitar, and "29" is free of that. It is great.

CD of the Year:

Bright Eyes - I'm wide awake, it's Morning. From the first tale of horrific death cheered up by song, to the final march of hatred brought on by his government, this is a totally amazing cd. Conor's songwriting ability has always been fantastic, but in this release he gets it right in a way that is right for the rest of us too.

Movie of the Year:

Elizabethtown. First of anyone who saw this movie and has anything bad to say about it should ask themselves "Is this a really pompus prick thing to say?", because this movie was fantastic and the fact that is was left off most of the best of lists this year is proof that hollywood is full of snobby pretentious jerks with there heads so far up their arses they can't accept the fact that Cameron Crowe actually did a great job with this film and Orlando Bloom actually has some talent.

Entertainer of the Year:

Steve Carell. The Daily Show, The Office, The 40 year old Virgin. Need i say more? In 2005 he had the midas touch, lets hope he keeps up the good work, a few more movies and seasons of the office and i will have killer abs. I heard he is working on a sequel to "Bruce Almighty", heres to hoping it doesn't suck.

Guess what i got for Christmas?

yeah, thats awesome.

i Spent this years holidays at a mish-mash of peoples houses and i must say, it was exausting. I really do love seeing everyone, but boy, hard to take for more than two days at a time.
Other Christmas gift highlights were: Some Shirts, Wine, Tools, lots more tools, FIFA06 for my GC, A cool Einstein Poster, the new decemberists cd, and more tools. It rocked my socks off. Oh yeah, i got socks of course.

My little brother Nicolas got a PSP and i have to say i played around with it and it totally freaking rocks. He got a New Need for Speed game, and the graphics are awesome. Way better than tetris.
Christmas time also means that i can see my father, who lives in Charlottetown. He suffers from a workaholicism, that i find quite a burden. I wish he could make it down here more often (or just move back)

So in the next few days i will be counting down my "Stuff of the Year", So get excited.

Starting back between the holidays, i will be starting my "Stuff of the Year 2005" Blog Special edition. I know you are all very excited, you see what my favorite stuff was this year.

Also, for most of my life i have kept my political views quiet and mostly to myself (except for some close friends). This year its all coming out.
1 - Conservatives, i don't like you. Drop GST my arse, we dont even pay gst here people its HST! oh, but as usual no one remembers the Maritimes, or even more New Brunswick.
2 - Liberals... i tried i really did. Jean was a great leader. He was successful at giving canada its own image and not having us be those other guys close to the USA. Paul Martin. No, just No.
3 - BQ Like, WTF Mate?
4 - NDP :D Here we go, a good alternative party with good morals. Now don't be confused they are not the crazy communist hippies that they were in the 20's. Jack Layton has a really good platform this time. And especially in Fredericton, John Carty is a GREAT candidate. He is currently manager of the Fredericton SPCA Animal Shelter and was previously regional case manager with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He took Science at UNB as well.
I f anyone wants info check the websites, John Carty's office is down on Queen st. and they have all kinds of info and cool pins that say stuff like " I think, therefore i am NDP"

New Look

Yes i have a new look here at my blog, what do you think? i actually learned a bit of html and designed it myself, it is pretty basic, but it is a big step for me.

I went and saw King Kong last night, pretty amazingly hilariously awesome. A little over the top, but well done all the same.

Over the next few weeks i will be posting my year end "best of" lists, encumpasing my favorite films, music and books of 2005, and maybe something else if i can think of it.. any ideas?

the holidays are right around the corner, and there is one paycheck left before christmas.. :S
everyones schedules are packed full and everyone is trying to see each other, people are going home for the holidays and you always try to see everyone before they leave. So hecktic.

My Schedule is so rediculous: tonight i have our staff chrictmas party and danielle is having a christmas gathering of sorts at her place, so i will try to pull a Jack Tripper of sorts and attend both. Tomorrow Night The Trick is playing a NiN Cover Show at the Underground Cafe and i MUST attend that hopefully accompanied by Warren and Alyssa. Then Monday, "King Kong" with Jodi and friends.tuesday i need to go shopping because it's the last day i have off before Christmas (Holy Crap!) , i Work Weds AM, and i need to defend Jodi and I's Drunk Mario Party Title Wednesday Night vs. Liz, Pat, Matt & co. Work Thursday and Friday night. Also some night i must consume one bottle of wine that was given to Shannon and I, from the Power's Estate (thanks Aaron!). Then Its Christmas. and now you know... the .. rest of the story.

Oh boy,

That movie(Aeon Flux) was LA-AME, ah well, the theatres is always more about the medium than the messsage.
HS Math exam yesterday, totally done, i think it went ok, and i have psych in like 3 hrs.. so i thought i should blog instead of studying.. makes sence right?

ok, lets just get thisout of the way.. does anyone else watch Smallville?? because i do! Alright, know its cheezy and crappy, and usually pretty horrible, but im hooked. All y'all watched Dawson's Creek and i didn't, so i have some catching up to do on my sleeze.
ok, back to it:
On Smallville recently Clark died and Jor-EL brought him back to life under one condition, he would soon lose the life of someone he loved. There has been a lot of buzz about who this might be and i would just like to clear something up. It will NOT be Lana (Clarks gf), inspite of what people think Lana is in the comics and she does not need to die in order for Clark to have romance with Lois. In the comics, when Clark finally reveals his powers to Lana, their romance ends. Lana later has a child and marries Pete Ross (who is no longer on smallville for some reason). She later leaves him when he is apointed vice-president for Lex Luthor.

So who will die?.. Chloe. Played by Allison Mack(remember that show?).
She plays an important role in the show as Clarks best friend and Lois's cousin. She is not in the comics And she already has a job at the Daily Planet. Perhaps her death is just what Clark and Lois need to be pushed into reporting..

my first exam is tomorrow morning at nine in the morning. So you would imagine i would be studying tonight right? well, you would imagine wrong! I have plans to go out to eat and see a movie! tomorrow is the last day of classes this symester and like old times, i feel as though i have accomplished nothing. In school anyways. For the first time in a long time i am totally satisfied with my social situation(which is probably responsible for my lack of school satisfaction). Umm, yeah super crazy update time,

it is now December, seriously folks. Come on.
Ok, for all my fans, just to keep you up to date with my social life, yes, me and michelle broke up. yes its ok. im fine. im moving on. next topic.
I've been listening to a TON of good music lately, varying all over the place, highlight will be the very fabulous Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, this guy is an amazing songwriter, and in fact realease two cds this year, the more electronic "Digital ash in a digital urn", and my personal favorite the mostly acoustic "I'm Wide awake its Mourning". Awesome, Awesome CD, seriously, I bought a capo to try to learn to play this guys music. Also Highlighting my cd Player are the new Sufjan Stevens, Nouvelle Vague, Ben Le e, Brendan Benson, Electrelane, Fruit Bats, My Morning Jacket, Ryan Adams, Stars, the Decemberists, and the Shins i guess. I realize that that is a ton of info, but heck i just did a crap load of hypertexting so you had better give those bands a try!
I went to the Capital Last night and saw paTrick Reinartz play, Man. Awesome. *High Fives*
Also Dec. 29 - Das RadioReunion Show at The Capital, be there or be Square... thats right, i said it.
Oh, we got this crazy Dagoba chocolate at Reid's (its da-GO-ba, not DA-go-ba, for all you star wars nuts.) anyways, this stuff is crazy, there is one kind with 87% cacao, and another with chillies, and another with lavender.. crazy man, crazy.

im still in dieppe, but im pretty sure im comming back to freddy next year, i havn't talked to the university yet, but im pretty sure i'll be back. so ill be looking for a place with my buddy edjuardo in july, so if anyone knows of any openings or something, i'd like a place somewhere atop the hill between the mall and the U.
I'm probably going to get a transfer to the starbucks there,i have just completed my AST, thats the starbucks training that says you could run the store by yourself(alah forbid), so i figure i should be a shoe in. it doesn't pay well, but the hours are flexable(and easy).
Other than that things are pretty boring out here, i work 40+ hours a week unless we are having one of our regular blizzards. mich is doing good at collage, and we do fun stuff whenever we have some time off together.
Oh yeah that email i sent a bunch of people, the animals are not really from the tsunami, but they are all real (john:1 travis:0)
Also is anyone else superdisapointed in the crappy music, what are you listening to latley?..

i had been hugging the dog for 4 minutes when i heard screaming. i looked up and saw mrs shears running towards me from the patio. she was wearing pajamas and a housecoat. her toenails were painted bright pink and she had no shoes on.
